Therapeutic Process

How long and frequent are sessions?
Session length depends on type: click here for specifics. Frequency could be weekly, bimonthly, or monthly; your schedule will be determined by your clinician's recommendations and mutual availability.

Will I be diagnosed with a mental illness or disorder?
Diagnosis is used when necessary for your care. Our focus is on your experiences and healing, not labels or categories.

How long before I see progress?
Some people notice changes within a few sessions, while others take more time. We’ll go at a pace that feels appropriate for you and check in regularly about goals and progression.

Is what I talk about confidential?
What you share in counseling is confidential. The exceptions are rare situations where there’s a duty to protect safety or court involvement. If anything like that ever comes up, we talk about it openly so you’re never left in the dark.
Professional Relationship

Can you write prescriptions for medication?
Reclaim Intimacy does not prescribe medication. We refer to and work with a selection of trusted, specialist prescribers.

Will you give me advice, or tell me what to do?
A counselor's role isn’t to tell you what to do, but to help you understand yourself, your choices, and what you need. I may offer perspectives, tools, or information, but you stay in control of your decisions.

Can I add or follow you on social media?
The relationship between you and your counselor is a professional one; therefore, counselors at Reclaim Intimacy do not send/accept social media connection requests, even if/when you no longer work together.

Can we spend time together outside of session?
If you run into your counselor in public, you’re welcome to say hello! They won’t initiate contact, to protect confidentiality. Otherwise, your counselor will not see you outside of session. If you need support between sessions, please let them know at your next appointment.
